How does ebay work if i want to buy items?

I recently started learning nail tech and i wanted to order some suppplies i need from ebay. How do i get started on ebay. I am 18 And only have a checking account Can i pay through debit? Also would i have to pay for shipping? Your information would be very much appreciated. Thanks
